Sonia Fernández-Vidal (Barcelona, 1978) graduated in physics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In 2010 she will be defending her doctoral thesis in Information and Quantum Optics.In 2003 she worked at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) in the new particle accelerator project Large Hadron Collider (LHC). There she began to enjoy popular science participating as an official guide and lecturer at CERN.In 2005 she traveled to Los Alamos (USA) to collaborate with the theoretical division of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in a project on Decoherence and Quantum Information. A place where any scientist stops to reflect on the consequences and responsibility of their researches.In 2006 she worked at the Instituto de Ciencias Fotónicas (ICFO) in a European project on "Scalable Quantum Computing with Light and Atoms" (SCALA).Until 2009 she worked as a researcher at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in the Spanish project of Optics and Quantum Information. She has combined her research with another of her passions: teaching, both in college and in adult facilities.During the past two years she has given many lectures as an introduction to quantum physics to non-scientists with the goal of opening the consciousness of people to different realities.
